While we continue to welcome the new year, I wanted to use this opportunity to talk about the importance of creating a routine. But, as we always do, we're putting a griefy spin on this topic!
Your gain will be to understand how and why a routine is so critical, especially for those who are grieving. And yes, there can definitely be some major benefits to this… it's not simply to add more to your heavy plate!
The thing I love about creating a routine we can count on—no matter if it's one step or seven—is two-fold.
- It can bring you back to the present moment when things are feeling overwhelming.
- It can provide us a sense of structure and control in a time that can feel very out of control. When we’re in the process of losing something or someone, or already have, that loss can strip away a lot of our sense of control. From there, we might wonder how we’re ever going to get this control back.
When you fill your routine with things that are uplifting and beneficial to your health and wellness, you're more likely to want to get up and do them instead of wanting to go back to bed, right?
So, we’ll deep dive into the reasons for this and how exactly a solid routine can and will help you in your grief journey. Truly, a routine I love and am empowered by has absolutely changed the course of my healing journey.
